Terms of Service

Last updated: November 2, 2026

These Terms cover your SignalBox subscription and your use of the app: what you get, how billing, cancelling and refunds work, and what each of us is responsible for.

The short version

  • SignalBox costs $5 USD a month. Sales tax or VAT is added or included depending on your country; the final amount and currency are shown at checkout before you pay. It renews every month until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time. You keep SignalBox until the end of the month you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
  • Ask within 30 days of any payment and you get that payment back in full, no questions asked.
  • Paddle.com is our reseller and Merchant of Record. It handles payments, taxes, invoices and refunds.
  • SignalBox sends commands to your cameras, but it can’t guarantee every recording. For important shoots, check the recordings on the cameras themselves.

This summary is only a guide. The numbered sections below are the Terms.

1. Who we are

SignalBox is made by Individual Entrepreneur Vladislav Vandakurov, 142/3 Myasnikyan St., Dilijan 3901, Tavush Province, Republic of Armenia (“we”, “us”, “our”).

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and us. They set out your licence to use the SignalBox software and the rules for your subscription, and they also apply when you use this website. Paddle.com, our reseller, processes your order and payment (section 2), but the agreement about SignalBox itself is between you and us.

By subscribing, or by downloading, installing or using SignalBox, you accept these Terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t subscribe to or use SignalBox.

If you accept these Terms on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you’re authorised to do so, and “you” means that organisation. To subscribe as an individual, you must be able to enter into a binding contract where you live. SignalBox isn’t intended for children under 16.

In these Terms, a “consumer” is an individual who uses SignalBox mainly for purposes outside their trade, business or profession. Where a part of these Terms works differently for consumers, we say so. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights that consumer law gives you.

These Terms replace any licence text supplied with SignalBox, now or with earlier versions, including the licence agreement from SignalBox’s free testing period and the licence text that the macOS installer may show. If such a text differs from these Terms, these Terms apply.

2. Paddle, our Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

In practice, this means you buy your SignalBox subscription from Paddle. Paddle takes your payment, calculates and collects sales tax or VAT, issues receipts and invoices, and processes cancellations and refunds. That’s why Paddle’s name appears on your receipts and bank statement.

Your purchase is also governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Paddle’s Refund Policy and Privacy Notice explain how Paddle handles refunds and your payment data. Our 30-day money-back guarantee (section 6) is more generous than Paddle’s standard policy, and it applies to every SignalBox payment.

3. What SignalBox is

SignalBox is desktop software for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and for macOS 12.1 or later on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer). It runs in the Windows notification area or the macOS menu bar and serves a control panel that you open in a web browser, on a phone or tablet, or as a Custom Browser Dock in OBS Studio. From the panel you control your cameras and see their status: Sony cameras over Wi‑Fi through Sony’s Camera Remote SDK, and Blackmagic Design cameras over Ethernet through the camera’s REST API.

What you buy is a licence to use the software for as long as your subscription lasts (section 7). SignalBox is delivered digitally: you download it from our website. Nothing is shipped, and cameras, computers, network equipment and installation services are not included.

Before you subscribe, please check the tested cameras and the requirements, and note these limits:

  • The SignalBox interface is currently in Russian only.
  • A Sony camera accepts only one controlling computer at a time, so only one copy of SignalBox on a network can control it.
  • SignalBox shows no live picture from Blackmagic cameras.
  • Camera models we haven’t tested may work only partly, or not at all.

SignalBox doesn’t use licence keys or activation at the moment. If a future version introduces a way to confirm that your subscription is active, we’ll explain beforehand how it works and what information it uses.

4. Subscription and billing

Price

The SignalBox subscription costs $5 USD per month. There is one plan with every feature included, and we charge no setup or other fees. There is no free trial; instead, every payment is covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee (section 6).

Automatic renewal

Your subscription starts when your first payment is completed. It then renews automatically every month, and Paddle charges the same payment method each time, until you cancel (section 5). Before you pay, the checkout shows the amount and how often you’ll be charged.

Taxes and currency

Depending on where you live, Paddle adds sales tax, VAT or GST to the price, or shows a price that already includes it. Paddle may also show the price in your local currency. The total, the currency and any tax are shown at checkout before you pay. If you buy for a business, you can add your company name and VAT or tax number at checkout so they appear on your invoice.

Payment, receipts and invoices

You pay Paddle by card or with another method Paddle offers in your country, such as PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your payment details go straight to Paddle; we never see your card number. Paddle emails you a receipt for every payment. Card payments appear on your statement as PADDLE.NET* SIGNALBOX, and PayPal payments as PAYPAL *PADDLE.NET.

Please keep your payment details up to date in Manage subscription. We and Paddle send important notices, such as price changes, to the email address you used at checkout; if it changes, email us at billing@signalbox.cam and we’ll help you update it with Paddle.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Paddle may try again and email you to update your payment method. If the payment still can’t be collected, your subscription may be cancelled, and your licence then ends at the end of the last month you paid for. You can subscribe again at any time.

Price changes

We may change the price of the subscription. If we do, you’ll get an email at least 14 and no more than 30 days before the new price applies to your next renewal. A price change never affects a month you’ve already paid for. If you don’t want to pay the new price, cancel before it applies. Where the law requires your consent to a price increase, the new price won’t apply to you without it.

Where you can buy from

Paddle can’t accept payments from countries and regions under international sanctions, including Russia and Belarus.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time, with no cancellation fee and no notice period. To cancel:

  • use the link in any Paddle receipt email;
  • go to Manage subscription and sign in with the email address you used at checkout; or
  • email us at billing@signalbox.cam, and we’ll cancel it for you through Paddle.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing month. You won’t be charged again, and you can keep using SignalBox until then. If you also want your last payment back, see section 6.

Uninstalling SignalBox doesn’t cancel your subscription. Please cancel using one of the options above.

6. Refunds

30-day money-back guarantee. If you ask within 30 days of any payment — your first payment or any monthly renewal — we refund that payment in full. No questions asked, and no conditions.

To request a refund, go to paddle.net and choose “Request refund”, use the link in your Paddle receipt, or email us at billing@signalbox.cam and we’ll ask Paddle to process it. Paddle returns the money to the payment method you used. Card refunds usually arrive 3–5 business days after the refund is approved, and Paddle commits to completing refunds within 14 days of approval.

When a payment is refunded, your subscription is cancelled, and the period that payment covered ends, together with your licence to use SignalBox.

If you’re a consumer in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you also have a legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days. In the EU and the EEA, you can use the withdrawal option in the Paddle customer portal: open Manage subscription and sign in with the email address you used at checkout. Wherever you are, including the UK, you can also withdraw by contacting Paddle or us. Our guarantee is more generous, and it doesn’t limit any of your legal rights.

All the details are in our Refund Policy.

7. Your licence

While your subscription is active, we give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use SignalBox for your own productions. Here, “you” is the customer who subscribed: one person or one company.

What you may do

  • Install SignalBox on any number of computers that you use for your own productions.
  • Let your team — employees, contractors, crew and guests in your studio — use SignalBox and its control panel for your productions. You’re responsible for how they use it.
  • Use SignalBox in production work you do for your clients.
  • Make backup copies of SignalBox for your own use.

What you may not do

  • Share your subscription or copies of SignalBox with another person or company for their own productions.
  • Sell, rent, lend, sublicense or otherwise distribute SignalBox or copies of it.
  • Offer SignalBox to others as a product or service in its own right, for example as a camera-control service for other studios.
  • Remove or change copyright or authorship notices, or present SignalBox as your own work.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble SignalBox, except as far as the law that applies to you expressly allows it, for example to achieve interoperability, or as the licence of an open-source component of SignalBox allows it (such as the GNU LGPL for libusb).
  • Get around any technical measure that protects SignalBox or checks your subscription, or keep using SignalBox after your licence has ended.

Your licence ends when your subscription ends: at the end of the last month you paid for, when a payment is refunded, or under section 16. You must then stop using SignalBox and uninstall it. The files SignalBox created on your computer — your settings, camera list and groups — are yours to keep.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use SignalBox or this website:

  • for anything unlawful, or in a way that violates the rights of others;
  • for fraud or spam, or to deceive people;
  • to infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy, including by recording people in a way the law doesn’t allow;
  • to control cameras, computers or networks that you don’t own or aren’t authorised to control;
  • to interfere with the security of SignalBox, this website, Paddle or anyone else — for example by spreading malware, probing or scanning for weaknesses, trying to get in where you aren’t authorised, overloading our servers, or scraping this website with automated tools.

If you do, we may suspend or end your licence (section 16).

9. Ownership

SignalBox — its software, control panel, design, documentation, name and logo — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your subscription gives you a licence to use SignalBox, not ownership of it. We keep all rights that these Terms don’t expressly give you.

Your material stays yours. The footage, audio and anything else you record with your cameras belong to you (or to whoever holds the rights to them), and so do your camera settings, groups and card layouts. SignalBox doesn’t send any of it to us.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve SignalBox without owing you anything for them.

10. Third-party components and trademarks

SignalBox includes components made by others. Each one is used under its own licence, and these Terms don’t change those licences:

  • the Sony Camera Remote SDK libraries, which SignalBox uses to communicate with Sony cameras. Sony’s own libraries belong to Sony and are provided under Sony’s terms. These Terms give you no rights to them apart from using them as part of SignalBox, and don’t replace Sony’s terms;
  • the libusb library, under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1;
  • the libssh2 library, under the BSD 3-Clause License, which includes cryptographic code from the OpenSSL project under the Apache License 2.0;
  • the qrcode-generator library, under the MIT License;
  • the Saira and JetBrains Mono fonts, under the SIL Open Font License.

We can send you copies of these licences, and the source code of libusb, libssh2 and OpenSSL, on request. SignalBox controls Blackmagic Design cameras through the camera’s own REST API and includes no Blackmagic software.

Software you use together with SignalBox, such as your operating system, web browser, OBS Studio and camera firmware, comes from other companies under their own terms, and we aren’t responsible for it.

Trademarks. Sony and α are trademarks of Sony Group Corporation. Blackmagic Design and PYXIS are trademarks of Blackmagic Design Pty. Ltd. OBS Studio is a trademark of the OBS Project. Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation, and Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. We use these names only to say which cameras and software SignalBox works with. SignalBox is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by these companies.

11. Cameras, footage and your network

SignalBox sends commands to your cameras, including commands to start and stop recording and to change settings. It reads back what each camera reports and, for some settings, checks that a change took effect, but it can’t guarantee that every command is applied: the camera always has the final say.

We can’t guarantee that a recording starts, continues or stops at exactly the moment you expect, or that a setting is applied. That depends on things outside our control: the quality of your Wi‑Fi and network equipment, and each camera’s model, firmware, mode, battery, temperature and memory card.

You are responsible for:

  • your camera settings, and enough power and free card space for the shoot;
  • checking on the cameras themselves that important recordings have started and have been saved, and keeping backups of your footage;
  • what you record, including getting any consent the law requires from the people you film;
  • connecting SignalBox only to cameras you own or are authorised to control;
  • the security of your network.

About network security. SignalBox works only on your local network. Its control panel doesn’t ask for a password: any device that can reach the studio computer over your network can open the panel and control your cameras. Blackmagic cameras with remote control switched on also accept commands from any device on the network without a password. Keep your studio network private: keep it separate from public or guest Wi‑Fi, give access only to people who should be able to control the cameras, and don’t make the panel or your cameras reachable from the internet (for example, through port forwarding on your router).

Two practical notes about Sony cameras. The first time SignalBox connects, the camera may ask you to confirm the pairing on the camera itself. And because a Sony camera accepts only one controlling computer, don’t run two copies of SignalBox on the same network with the same Sony cameras.

12. Updates and support

New versions of SignalBox are included while your subscription is active. SignalBox checks for new versions and installs them when you choose to, or automatically if you turn that on. Updating keeps your settings, cameras and groups. At the moment, updates are checked for and downloaded through GitHub.

Updates may add, change or remove features. We don’t promise new versions on a fixed schedule, or support for every new camera model, firmware or operating system version. If an update makes SignalBox clearly worse for you, please tell us. You can always cancel, and every payment is covered by the 30-day guarantee. If you turn on automatic updates, SignalBox installs an update and restarts as soon as it finds one, which can happen during a shoot. We recommend not installing updates right before an important shoot.

Support. We help by email at support@signalbox.cam and by phone at +374 43 728 524. We aim to reply within 2 business days (Monday to Friday), but we can’t guarantee response or fix times. We support the latest version of SignalBox; if you report a problem, we may ask you to update first. We don’t provide on-site help, installation or network setup services.

13. Your data and privacy

SignalBox works on your local network and sends nothing to us: no usage statistics, no analytics, and no account to sign in to. Your camera video and recordings never leave your network. The only internet connections SignalBox makes are checking for and downloading updates; these show the update server (GitHub at the moment) your computer’s IP address.

Paddle collects the details needed for your order and payment and handles them under its own Privacy Notice. It shares with us what we need to provide and support your subscription, such as your email address, country and subscription status.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

14. No warranty

We test SignalBox with real cameras, but software and networks can fail. To the extent the law allows, SignalBox is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranties other than those stated in these Terms. In particular, we don’t promise that SignalBox will:

  • run without interruptions or errors;
  • work with every camera model, firmware, network setup or operating system version;
  • suit a particular purpose or production.

There is no service level agreement: we don’t guarantee availability, response times or how long it takes to fix a problem.

If you’re a consumer, you have legal rights when digital content or a digital service isn’t as described, isn’t fit for purpose or isn’t of satisfactory quality. This section doesn’t affect those rights.

15. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity or goodwill;
  • we are not liable for missed or interrupted shoots, recordings that didn’t start or stop, lost or damaged footage or data, or the cost of re-shooting. SignalBox is a remote for your cameras, not a recorder or a backup system;
  • our total liability to you for all claims relating to SignalBox or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for SignalBox in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

If you’re a consumer, the mandatory consumer law of your country may not allow some of these limits. Where it doesn’t, they don’t apply to you, and you keep the remedies that law gives you.

16. Suspension and termination

You can stop using SignalBox and cancel your subscription at any time (section 5).

We may suspend or end your licence, and ask Paddle to cancel your subscription, if:

  • you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, for example by sharing or reselling SignalBox or by misusing it as described in section 8;
  • a payment can’t be collected, or is charged back;
  • we reasonably believe that your use involves fraud or puts the security of SignalBox, Paddle or others at risk; or
  • the law requires us to.

Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right. We won’t do that if the breach is serious, if there’s a risk of fraud or harm, or if the law doesn’t allow it.

If we decide to stop offering SignalBox altogether, we’ll tell you by email at least 30 days in advance wherever we reasonably can, stop all further charges, and refund any payment for a period you can no longer use.

When your licence ends, you must stop using SignalBox and uninstall it. Sections 9, 10, 14, 15, 18 and 19 continue to apply after that.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we change SignalBox, our prices or the way we sell it, or when the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated.

If we make a material change, we’ll tell you at least 14 days before it takes effect, by email if you’re a subscriber and with a notice on this website. If a material change is to your disadvantage, it applies to your subscription from your first renewal after the change takes effect. If you don’t agree with a change, you can cancel before it applies to you (section 5). If you keep using SignalBox after a change applies to you, you accept the updated Terms.

Changes needed for legal or security reasons may take effect sooner. Price changes follow section 4.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms, and any dispute about them or about SignalBox, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Armenia.

If you’re a consumer, this choice of law doesn’t take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. If you’re a business customer, disputes will be decided by the competent courts of Republic of Armenia.

Your purchase from Paddle is governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms, including the law and courts they name.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems can be solved quickly by email.

19. General

  • Whole agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about SignalBox. Paddle’s Buyer Terms govern your purchase from Paddle.
  • Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience; if a translation differs from the English version, the English version applies.
  • Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else without our written consent. We may transfer ours to a business that takes over SignalBox; we’ll tell you if we do, and your rights won’t be reduced.
  • Events outside our control. We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages of the internet, Paddle or GitHub.
  • Severability. If a court finds any part of these Terms invalid, the rest stays in force.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Notices. We send notices to the email address you used at checkout. You can send notices to us at info@signalbox.cam.
